The Managing Editor, who will report to our Executive Editor, will be instrumental in refining their business coverage, fostering their talent, and guiding Axios to new heights of success.
In addition to managing a group of reporters, editors, and subject matter experts, you will have an influence by carrying out the following duties:
- Reporters who support our business focused publications, Axios Pro Rata, Axios Markets, Axios Macro, Axios Closer, and Axios Crypto, can help you prioritize coverage, especially breaking news. Together, these newsletters cover a wide range of topics, including corporates, cryptocurrency, deals, markets, the economy, and finance.
- Participate in extensively covered initiatives across a variety of media, such as websites, videos, podcasts, events, newsletters, and social media.
- Oversee the flow of innovative company pitches made to the larger Axios AM and Axios PM audiences.
- Encourage cooperation amongst the Axios newsroom’s editorial departments.
The Details
Ideal applicants will possess the following abilities, have a strong sense of entrepreneurship, and be passionate about Axios’ mission:
- Editing and reporting on markets, business, money, stocks, and economics for more than 15 years
- Strong willingness to write and assign breaking news pieces, field pitches, and collaborate with reporters to get the finest ideas
- Proven ability to envision and carry out ambitious projects
- The capacity to use analysis to separate the noise and make it understandable to others
- A track record of success in hiring, managing, coaching, and developing talent

Starting pay for this position ranges from $150,000 to $220,000, depending on a number of factors such as geography, job experience, and skill set. Other perks of remuneration are not included in this range. The pay philosophy of Axios accounts for variations in labor costs throughout the nation. Candidates will only be eligible for the wage range for their location, even if this is a remote optional job advertising that accounts for all potential locations inside the United States.
